Scientific Programmer/Software Engineer (South San Francisco, CA)

We are accepting applications for an entry-level candidate to support our custom application for Lab Management developed using C# and Windows forms in the .NET framework. The responsibilities for this position will include:

  • Maintenance, deployment, and documentation of in house software tools
  • Hands-on end user support and training
  • Feature additions and bug fixing
  • Working with end users to identify and refine user specifications for new software and new features
  • Working closely with external consultants to implement new features
  • Working closely on an integrated research teams including experimentalists, clinical/regulatory affairs, and product development specialists
  • Ensuring adherence to current software engineering best practices
The ideal candidate will be a self-starter who enjoys working with people from multiple disciplines, have strong programming skills and be willing to take up new responsibilities. Qualifications:
  • BS (with at least 4 years of experience in .NET) or MS (with at least 2 years of experience in .NET) in Computer Science, Software Engineering or a related area
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Ability to work well in multi-disciplinary teams
  • Willingness to be pro-active, and flexible
  • Strong programming skills with C# and .NET platform
  • Strong understanding of OOP concepts
  • Experience on SQL databases, SQL programming and XML
  • Familiarity with software lifecycle processes, QA and testing (both black and white box testing), as well as application deployment, maintenance, and end-user support
  • Experience with Python and/or SharePoint a plus

Associate Scientist - Advanced Development Group (Franklin, TN)

We are seeking qualified applicants for the position of Associate Scientist at our Franklin, Tennessee laboratory to participate in research efforts on cells of the immune system that will be applied to diagnostic tests for hematological malignancies and autoimmune disorders. In this position primary responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
  • Development and training of laboratory personnel on laboratory protocols
  • Ensuring completion of experimental goals and results, providing feedback and basic troubleshooting as necessary
  • Planning and execution of experiments and providing data in an efficient and timely manner
  • Collaborating with Laboratory Director to complete final validation reports
  • Demonstrating good laboratory practices in the handling of clinical (particularly blood and/or bone marrow) specimens, and other reagents, including antibodies, cytokines and small molecule inhibitors
  • Preparation of quality PBMC samples from whole blood
  • Working cooperatively in a team environment; supporting senior scientific staff and co-workers
The ideal candidate will have:
  • Bachelors degree, in one of the Life Sciences; immunology, cell biology, genetics, molecular biology
  • Significant experience in flow cytometry (5+ years) strongly preferred. Prior experience with BD FACSCanto II platform desired
  • Significant experience in the development and validation of flow cytometric assays. Experience in listmode analysis is required
  • Experience in the management of multiple projects with concurrent time lines a must
  • Experience in Good Laboratory Practice quality processes and programs strongly preferred
  • Previous supervisory experience (including training of personnel) in a flow cytometry laboratory strongly preferred
  • Experience in handling PBMCs and other human tissues
  • Experience in cell culture techniques
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Literacy in all MS Office products, and facility in learning other specialized applications

Research Associate - Advanced Development Group (Franklin, TN)

We are seeking qualified applicants for the position of Research Associate at our Franklin, Tennessee laboratory to participate in research efforts on cells of the immune system that will be applied to diagnostic tests for hematological malignancies and autoimmune disorders.   • Follow laboratory protocols rigorously to execute experiments. Understand the experimental goals and results, providing feedback and basic troubleshooting as necessary
  • Execute experiments and provide data in an efficient and timely manner (including data acquisition and basic QC, for hand-off to specialized data analysis teams)
  • Demonstrate good laboratory practices in the handling of clinical (particularly blood and/or bone marrow) specimens, and other reagents, including antibodies, cytokines and small molecule inhibitors.
  • Be experienced in the preparation of quality PBMC samples from whole blood is highly desired
  • Previous experience with cell culture techniques is highly desirable
  • Work cooperatively in a team environment; supporting senior scientific staff and co-workers
The ideal candidate will have:
  • Bachelors degree, in one of the Life Sciences; immunology, cell biology, genetics, molecular biology
  • An understanding of the principles and practice of flow cytometry. Prior experience using flow cytometry instrumentation a definite plus (BD FACSCanto II preferred).
  • Experience in handling PBMCs and other human tissues
  • Experience in cell culture techniques
  • Previous laboratory experience required.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Literacy in all MS Office products, and facility in learning other specialized applications
